About You
As a Graduate / Junior Ecologist, we understand that you might be just starting out in a professional working environment. As such, for us, it really isn’t about what you know right now it’s about how you approach tasks and your attitude to learning / developing. You will learn an incredible amount in the early years of your career, and we want to support you and your development every step of the way. You may have a relevant degree, and possibly a post-graduate degree, but a keen interest and passion for UK wildlife will be key.
A basic knowledge of plant identification would be advantageous but is certainly not a barrier to applying. We are looking for someone who is genuinely interested and who wants to develop their plant and habitat identification skills and ecology knowledge. Previous experience of QGIS would be advantageous but is not essential. We don’t expect you to currently hold any protected species survey licences, and this is something that our team will train and support you to achieve. A full UK driving licence and access to a car will be required.
You would be based within a reasonable / sensible commuting distance from the office, albeit flexible working / working from your home would also be possible. All kit and equipment will be provided.
Your Role
You will be carrying out habitat and protected species surveys under the guidance and support of experienced and licensed ecologists, and learn to analyse your field survey data to input to various types of reports and licence applications.
Additional Key Benefits
- 25 days annual leave per annum
- Fully funded external training budget
- Time Off In Lieu (TOIL) Policy, to compensate for ‘out of hours’ working
- All incurred expenses reimbursed in full, with mileage paid at £0.45 per mile
- Enhanced maternity and paternity leave package
- Full payment of all Natural England survey licence annual charges
- CIEEM annual membership costs paid in full
